Pour ce premier long-m\u00e9trage de sa trilogie du \u00ab Rideau Rouge \u00bb, qui va durer pr\u00e8s de 10 ans avec plus tard Romeo + Juliette et Moulin Rouge!, le r\u00e9alisateur Baz Luhrmann a su insuffler ce grain de folie qui fait sa particularit\u00e9 dans ses autres films. Tr\u00e8s color\u00e9, d\u00e9jant\u00e9 et musical, ce film qui parle essentiellement de danse, (Luhrmann a beaucoup pratiqu\u00e9 la danse dans son jeune \u00e2ge), se montre critique envers les conventions impos\u00e9es m\u00eame dans les concours de danse, qu&rsquo;il a probablement d\u00fb lui-m\u00eame affronter.
